Integrated systems work with a specific purpose.
Integration is when one system works with another to automatically and flawlessly perform a task. I like to say they take the human failure factor out of the equation.
Most common integration’s include:
When you flash your card to gain entry to the building and it disarms the security system.
Someone opens a door and the camera shot of that door flashes up on the video monitor.
Press a panic button and the building locks down
More sophisticated integration’s are when software engineers write Application Interfaces or APIs for various reasons between two platforms.
Could be where card access populates time and attendance for employee timekeeping software.
Access control could pull associated video from History reports.
